O Neills LFA Junior Cup Third Round
Tombrack United 0 Curracloe United 1
The lads good run in the LFA Junior Cup came to an end on Sunday when going down to a second half goal at home to Curracloe United. In a very evenly contested match, both sides created chances but defences and goalkeepers dominated until the Seasiders got the break in the second period of the game and booked their place in the last thirty two. Tombrack did battle hard to get back on level terms with Richie O Hara going close but Curracloe did enough to hold on.
Tombrack can now settle down to league action as they have only three league matches played as we head towards Christmas and the games in hand will make the season interesting
Wexford Football League Division Four A
Cloughbawn AFC 3 Tombrack United 1
Our second team have had a tough run of fixtures in recent weeks but have now played the top three division twice and have produced good performances in all those games. Today they travelled to leaders Cloughbawn and went ahead after five minutes through John Ryan but the home side are favourites to lift the title and battled back strongly to score three and take all three points
Wexford Women's League Division Three
Tombrack United 5 Cushinstown AFC 0
Our Women moved joint top of the table after this 5-0 win over Cushinstown in a cold Ballyboy this afternoon. After a good start, a fortunate Sarah Merrigan corner deceived everyone and went straight to the net after five minutes, twenty minutes later Leanne Kenny got on the end of a Kelli Maguire cross to score her first competitive goal for the senior team. Mary Boland made it 3-0 just before the break when she outpaced the visitors defence to slot the ball past the keeper.
The early part of the second half belonged to Cushinstown but they could not break down a hard working Tombrack defence and slowly but surely our women got back on top and some good work between Sarah, Kelli and Mary put Sharon Walsh through to score and ten minutes later Tammy Hennessy scored to wrap up a very important three points
Squad: Ashling Kavanagh, Mary Martin, Lauren Byrne, Eimear Whelan, Tia Byrne, Marie Allen (Chloe Hayden Doyle) Leanne Kenny (Sharon Walsh), Mary Boland, Tammy Hennessy (Katie O Toole), Kelli Maguire, Sarah Merrigan
