Under Eleven Schoolboys
Caim United v Tombrack United
We are not allowed to publish the score line for these matches but Assistant Manager Angela Tompkins was more than delighted with her teams performance away to a hard working enthusiastic Caim side. Rian, Eoin, Jimmy, Adam and Jack all performed well in this game
Under Thirteen Schoolboys
Tombrack United 5 Cushinstown AFC 0
Another stand in manager David O Keefe was in charge of the Under Thirteen boys and was over the moon with the performance in this 5-0 win over Cushinstown. Conor Dilllon, Robert McCrea, Darragh Breen, Danny Dreelan were all on target with a Cushinstown defender making up the total. This was an impressive performance by the home team and gives them their first win of the season
Under Fifteen Schoolboys
Tombrack United 1 Glynn Barntown 2
Our under fifteens will feel very unfortunate not to have grabbed at least a point from this game as they produced a hard working performance against a decent Glynn Barntown side. Evan Maher gave Tombrack a first half lead but despite being in control for long periods of the second half, they could not increase their advantage and the visitors capitalized to score twice and take all three points
Youths Division Three
Wexford Celtic 3 Tombrack United 5
Our youths side remain unbeaten and well in contention in this division after this 5-3 win away to Wexford Celtic. Tombrack always looked comfortable despite the closeness of the score line with Kevin Kenny scoring three, Harry Fitzgibbon and Haseeb Yasin adding a goal each. This moves the lads to within two points of the top and unbeaten after three games
LFA Junior Cup First Round
Crossabeg AFC 1 Tombrack United 4
After a difficult start to life in the Premier Division, the lads got a break from league action and travelled to Crossabeg for the first round of the Leinster Junior Cup. The home side played some decent football but were unable to match the intensity of the Tombrack lads who led 3-1 at the break thanks to goals from Richie O Hara, James Coleman and Bob Newe. The second half was much tighter but Mick Kelly scored to consolidate a comfortable 4-1 win and a place in the second round draw
Wexford Football League Division Four A
Tombrack United 3 Wexford Celtic 0
Our second team finally got their first points on the board after a very good performance saw them overcome Wexford Celtic 3-0. After a scoreless first half, John Ryan scored a hat trick to give the lads all three points, a win that moves them away from the bottom

Under Fourteens earn point in six goal thriller
Schoolboys Under Fourteen Division Three
Ferns United 3 Tombrack United 3
Our under fourteen boys earned their first point of the season with a last minute penalty in this thrilling local derby in clone. Tombrack led 1-0 at the break thanks to a goal from Colm Fortune but although he scored again in the second half, the home side were sharper and led three two with just moments left. However there was drama in the dying seconds when Tombrack were awarded a penalty and Conor O Toole kept his nerve to slot to the net and earn our lads a well deserved point

Schoolboys Under Sixteen Division Four
Enniscorthy United 6 Tombrack United 1
This game was much closer than the scoreline suggests with Tombrack trailing just 2-1 at the break with Harry Fitzgibbon scoring. However the second half was all Enniscorthy and they capitalized on some poor defending to score four more and run out flattering 6-1 winners

Shamrock Rovers 5 Tombrack United 2
The men's first team completed their opening three games against the top three when they travelled to Enniscorthy to take on Shamrock Rovers. The home side enjoyed the better of the opening exchanges and led 2-0 at the break. Two further quick goals early in the second half had Tombrack in trouble but this team is growing in character every week and showed it as goals from James Coleman and Eoghan Murphy brought the game back to 4-2. Rovers did score late in the game to win 5-2 and move to the top of the table. This game also saw the return of Paul Darcy to the goal and showed some of his old form by pulling off some vital saves. The lads now take on Crossabeg AFC in the LFA Junior Cup on Sunday 24th

Tombrack United 0 Wexford Albion 1
The men's second team would not have been flattered to be 4-0 up after 20 minutes in this game but wasted those chances and went in at the break still scoreless. Albion upped their game in the second half and applied pressure but found Conor Kehoe in the goal difficult to beat until seven minutes from the end, a defensive error allowed them through and Conor could do little to stop the well placed strike. Tombrack will feel unfortunate not to have grabbed at least a point but a bit more sharpness in front of goal could have seen them take all three

Great win for Youths
Under Thirteen Schoolboys Division Three A
Tombrack United 1 Forth Celtic B 4
Our Under Thirteen boys opened their season with a disappointing performance as they never got up to speed against an eager Forth Celtic side. Rob McCrea scored for goal for Tombrack but it was only a consolation as Forth ran out 4-1 winners
Under Fifteen Schoolboys Division Division Three
Tombrack United 2 Gorey Celtic B 5
This match was much closer than the scoreline suggests but it was Celtic's ability to find the net was the main difference between the two sides. Evan Maher scored both goals for the home side who played well in periods of the game before eventually going down 5-2
Youths Division Three
Tombrack United 5 Bree United 1
The Youths team remainded unbeaten and in touch with the leaders after this emphatic 5-1 victory over Bree United. Kevin Kenny was in flying form and scored four while Josh McMullan celebrated his call up to the Wexford Under Sixteen squad with a goal. The Youths have opened their season with a win and a draw and are looking like a side capable of contesting for a top half finish in this division
Wexford Football League Premier Division
Tombrack United 1 Gorey Rangers 2
After last weeks heroics against North End, it was interesting to see how the lads would fare out in this game against another of the favourites for the title, and the answer was quite simple, the team have shown they are capable of competing at this level. Early in the game, keeper Eoghan Murphy was called on to make a save from a long range effort but other than the game was equally contested with both sides cancelling each other out. Just on the half hour mark, Tombrack had the ball in the net from a corner only for it to be disallowed for impeding the keeper and four minutes later, Rangers went ahead when a direct through ball found its way beyond the home side defence and the the incoming Gorey player fired to the net.
The second half reaction from Tombrack was excellent and ten minutes into the half, they were level when Eoin Carton used his power and strength to hammer the ball past the keeper for Tombrack's first goal at Premier level. Fifteen minutes later it could have been 2-1 when Savo broke through and did everything right but the keeper saved superbly. Rangers also had their chance at the other end but although the ball went by the keeper, Kevin Kenny was on hand to clear off the line
Once again the game settled into a tentative affair and looked to be heading for a draw until three minutes from the end, Tombrack were unable to get the ball clear of the area and Gorey fired the ball into the bottom corner. Eight minutes injury time was added but although the home side did all they could, they were unable to find that elusive equaliser.
This was definitely a positive display by the home side but will need to keep building on these performances as they now move on to play Shamrock Rovers next Sunday
Wexford Football League Division Four A
Campile United 4 Tombrack United 0
The men's second team travelled to Campile but never really got going and struggled to come to grips with the game as they were beaten 4-0 by a well organised home side. The lads did create chances but found the home defence difficult to break down and will need to get themselves back on track for next week if they want to get themselves into the promotion hunt
Women's Pre Season Friendly
Ajax Athletic 0 Tombrack United 8
A seventeen strong squad travelled to Ajax for the Women's second pre season friendly and the management team used the opportunity to try out some new formations and give some of the newer players more game time. Goals from Shannon Mcgovern and Mary Boland had Tombrack 2-0 up at half time and the second half saw the women take control as goals followed from a Becky Connaughton free kick, a Sarah Merrigan penalty, an own goal when a defender deflected to the net under pressure from Aimee Walsh. This was followed by a Becky Connaughton corner being deflected to the net for 6-0 before Leanne Kenny shot to the roof of the net while Shannon rounded off the scoring as she found space in the penalty area to shoot past the keeper. An overall good performance with players putting in a great effort with Kelly Murphy and Hannah Kilbride making impressive debuts
Squad: Ashling Kavanagh, Mary Martin, Tia Byrne, Eimear Whelan, Breda Cushen, Kelli Maguire, Sarah Merrigan, Mary Boland, Katie O Toole, Shannon McGovern, Marie Allen, Sharon Walsh, Kelly Murphy, Becky Connaughton, Leanne Kenny, Aimee Walsh, Hannah Kilbride

A new season begins
Schoolboys Under Ten
Bree United v Tombrack United
Our youngest boys team travelled to Bree on Saturday and were involved in a high scoring, fun filled entertaining thriller with some excellent performances from the stars of the future. Under the management of Bridget Kenny and her new Assistant Angela Tomkins, the team had great performances from Jack Sheridan, Eoin Tomkins, Oisin Regan, Padraig Kenny, DJ McGovern and Conor McDermott who was making his debut
Schoolboys Under Twelve
Campile United 7 Tombrack United 0
A slightly understrength Under Twelve team travelled to Campile and put in an excellent performance where the seven goal margin does not do the team justice. William Wilson was outstanding out the field for the lads while Leanne Walsh put in a strong performance in the goal.
Schoolboys Under Fourteen
Forth Celtic 7 Tombrack United 0
This team has the ability to do very well in this division but unfortunately this game was not one of those days and everything that could go wrong, did and Forth Celtic ran out flattering but comfortable 7-0 winners. The lads were punished for every mistake and were much closer to the home side than the scoreline suggests
Youths Division Three
Ballagh United 1 Tombrack United 1
A new look Youths side opened the season with a hard earned draw against a dogged home side who scored after five minutes to take the lead. Tombrack battled hard to get back into the game and were rewarded five minutes before half time when David Power scored the goal that eventually earned the lads a point. Good performances from goal scorer Power, Kevin Kenny and new signing Mikey Roche
Men's Premier Division
Tombrack United 0 North End United 4
History was made in Tombrack on Sunday morning when the lads kicked off in the Wexford League Premier Division for the first time in the club's history and the opponents could not come any tougher than last seasons double winners North End. Ultimately it was the visitors experience that proved to be the difference between the teams but the home side had their chances and at times, did manage their much more illustrious opponents. Although North End enjoyed good possession, they were unable to penetrate a determined and hard working Tombrack defence and their best chance early in the game came from a free kick that was well saved by Eoghan Murphy. James Coleman and Darragh Hendrick were outstanding in midfield throughout the game but it was Mick "Savo" Kelly who went closest in the first half when he brought an outstanding save from Lee Walker. On thirty minutes, North End got the break when a stretched defence allowed the visitors through and Jay Murphy kept a calm head to slot the ball under Eoghan Murphy. Six minutes later a long clearance from Walker deceived defenders and keeper and the chasing Kyle Dempsey found himself clear in front of an empty goal.
The second half saw Tombrack continue to work hard and restricted the visitors chances and were unlucky not to pull one back when Carton crossed to Savo who once again brought a good save from the experienced North End keeper. The visitors killed off the game on seventy five minutes when Kyle Dempsey fired home from outside the box but Tombrack kept coming forward and Richie O Hara could have scored twice, seeing one long range effort headed off the line and a second opportunity where he could not dig the ball from under his feet when through in space. Bob Newe also went close before North End had the final say with probably the best worked goal of the game when Shane Dempsey fired home with seven minutes remaining
Overall, manager Joe Newe was disappointed with the mistakes and feels his side are conceding far too many goals but was very happy with the character shown by the whole squad in what could have been potentially a very tricky encounter.
Every player played their part in this game but Darragh Hendrick, James Coleman and Bob Newe were all excellent on the day
Next Sunday will see another of the Premier title challenger, Gorey Rangers, come to Tombrack and the club were delighted such great numbers turn out for this morning's game and hopefully will see you all there next Sunday again
Squad: Eoghan Murphy, Rory Newe, Dane McGarry, Bob Newe, Brian Hayden, Kevin Coleman (Richie O Hara), Darragh Hendrick, Kevin Coleman, Kevin Kenny (Tom Hayden) (Steven Ryan), Eoin Carton (John Coleman), Mick Kelly
Mens Division Four A
Tombrack United "B" 3 Enniscorthy United "B" 5
These two sides produced an open game of football before the visitors left with all three points as they came out on top in this eight goal thriller. Tombrack opened the scoring when Eoghan Murphy found the net after twenty minutes but eight minutes later, the vistors were back on level terms when a well struck shot gave Jason Watchorn in the goal no chance. The opening five minutes of the second half were disastrous for the home side as Enniscorthy scored twice to cruise into a 3-1 lead. However, Tombrack worked hard and quickly pulled one back when a Steven Ryan effort caused a mix up between the keeper and defender and the ball found its way to the net and the home side were back level a few minutes later when Eoghan Murphy headed to the net. Five minutes later, Enniscorthy were back in front when their centre forward fired low to the net and this time defended strongly to keep the home side at bay and scored late in the game to wrap up the three points.
There was little to criticise about the performance of the team and can still be among the challengers in this division but will need to cut down on conceding so many goals

Final Match Reports for 2016-17
Friday May 19th
Under Sixteen Schoolgirls Premier Division
Tombrack United 1 Bunclody AFC 0
Our Under Sixteen girls were already league champions heading into this game but still put in a top class performance to overcome Bunclody 1-0 courtesy of a Shannon McGovern goal midway through the first half. The girls had enjoyed the better possession throughout and hit the crossbar twice early on while the defence dealt with anything the visitors threw at them. While the final scoreline was 1-0, Tombrack never looked in trouble and were presented with their league trophy by League Administrator Peter Doyle to spark off an evening of mad celebrations. Well done to Sean, Bridget and Pat and of course, all the players on a fantastic achievement
Saturday May 20th
Under Eighteen Sevens Play Off Semi Final
St Leonards 0 Tombrack United 2
As far as draws go, our girls got the worst possible as they were drawn away in this play off semi final and made the long journey to play St Leonards in Ballycullane. However, this did not seem to deter our girls as they put in probably their best performance of the season as they took control of this game and ran out 2-0 winners, scoring a goal in each half. Shannon McGovern scored in the first half and Becky Connaughton wrapped it up with a goal in the second half
Sunday May 21st
Mens Premier Division Promotion Play Off
Tombrack United 1 Rosslare Rangers 1 aet
(Tombrack won 3-0 on penalties)
Arguably the biggest result in the history of the club saw our men wrap up a great season by attaing promotion to the premier division courtesy of a penalty shoot out over Rosslare Rangers in Ferrycarrig Park. In an evenly contested first half, Tombrack were dealt a blow early on when keeper Paul Darcy had to go off injured with Eoghan Murphy taking over in goal. Just after the half hour mark, Rosslare got the break through when they broke down the wing and fired an unstoppable shot to the back of the net. Tombrack came in search of an equaliser and went close through James Coleman, Mick "Savo" Kelly and Richie O Hara but it looked like the game was slipping away as it headed into injury time. However, a hand ball from a corner saw the lads awarded a penalty and Bob Newe stepped up and showed great composure to slot home the penalty. No goals in extra time saw the game go to penalties where the lads held their nerve to progress to the Premier division for the first time ever with Kevin Coleman, Rory Newe and James Coleman scoring in the 3-0 win. Well done to Joe, Willie and all the lads on what was a remarkable achievement and well deserved
Saturday May 27th
Under Eighteen Sevens Play Off Final
Tombrack United 1 Bree United 1 aet
(Tombrack won 4-2 on penalties)
The final game of the season saw our Eighteen girls wrap the Seven a Side league title after a penalty shoot out win in very difficult weather conditions in Ballyboy. In a game that was always going to be very tight, defences dominated in the first half although Tombrack would have enjoyed the better chances. The home side got the break through in the second half when they were awarded a penalty and Becky Connaughton slotted the ball to the net, however the lead was shortlived as Bree enjoyed their best spell in the game and were quickly back on level terms with a well taken goal just a few minutes later. No further goals saw the game go to extra time and then penalties where Becky, Breda Cushen, Amie Dreelan and Nicola Ryan all scored to give our girls a 4-2 win. Well done to Pat, Sean and all involved for what was a fantastic season and are well deserved league champions

Men go down in high scoring thriller
Under Twelve Schoolboys Division Three
Forth Celtic 4 Tombrack United 1
Our Under Twelve boys completed their season on Saturday in a game where they controlled the first half but Forth took control of the second. Stephen O Toole had Tombrack 1-0 ahead at the break but Forth bounced back to run out 4-1 winners despite our lads putting in a hard working performance. This team put in an excellent performance all season and deserved to finish higher than their final position of fifth suggests and are a credit to their management of Bob and David. Well done to all
Mens Division One
Tombrack United 5 Corach Ramblers 6
Probably one of the craziest games to be played in Ballyboy since the pitch was opened with the league winners eventually going home with all three points after a late penalty saw them come out on top in an eleven goal thriller. First Tombrack led 3-0, then went 5-3 behind before coming back to 5-5 with Ramblers having the final say to take victory. Matthew Hendrick scored two with Rory Newe, Mick "Savo" Kelly and Eoin Carton all scored for Tombrack and the lads now travel to Ferrycarrig Park next Sunday to take on Rosslare Rangers in the Premier Division play off with kick off at 10-30am. Best of luck to Joe, Willie and all the lads
Under Sixteen Schoolgirls Premier One
This week also saw our Under Sixteen girls crowned Premier champions after Cloughbawn failed to fulfil their fixture against Shelburne and forfeited any mathematical chance they had of catching our girls to force a play off. Despite the league eventually being won due to a walkover, it must be remembered that Tombrack beat Cloughbawn twice in the league so are well worthy of their title and will be presented with their trophy at their final league match against Bunclody which is provisionally pencilled in for next Friday. Well done to Sean, Bridget and all the girls

Divisional Awards for Kevin and Mary
Under Fourteen Division Two A
Seaview United 7 Tombrack United 0
Our Under Fourteen girls travelled to Duncannon on Saturday afternoon but were unable to prevent the home side from moving to the top of the table. The game was much closer than the 7 goal margin might suggest and our girls now have one game remaining at home to Gorey Rangers and a win will see them finish third in the table
Men's Division One
Wexford Bohs 3 Tombrack United 3
Our lads continued their recent good form when they picked up a point away to Wexford Bohs as they prepare for their play off game in the coming weeks. James Coleman, Kevin Coleman and Kevin Kenny were all on target in this well deserved draw

Congratulations to both on these well deserved awards

Excellent weekend for all teams
Schoolboys Under Twelve Division Three
Tombrack United 0 Shelburne FC 1
The improvement by our Under Twelve boys team was shown in this game against league leaders Shelburne in Ballyboy last Thursday when our lads only lost 1-0 and dominated long periods of the second half. Shelburne are a well organised team but they found our lads well capable of matching them in all areas around the pitch and were very relieved to leave Tombrack with all three points. This particular team has fantastic potential and will do well at all age groups as they get older and hopefully will have the bit of luck needed to clinch an underage league title
Schoolgirls Under Eighteen Sevens
Tombrack United 1 St Leonards 0
Our Under Eighteen girls produced a well disciplined performance on Saturday morning to overcome a St Leonards side just needing a point to win the league. Our girls needed a win to force themselves into a play off and thats just what they did after working hard against the wind in the first half, they pushed forward in the second half and were rewarded when Amie Dreelan, who was making her debut at this age level, scored to give our girls a very important three points and they now go into a three way play off with St Leonards and Bree United for the title
Schoolgirls Under Fourteen Division Two B
Tombrack United 5 Corach Ramblers 0
The Under Fourteen girls are sitting safely mid table after this comfortable 5-0 win at home to a young Corach Ramblers side. Nadine Fortune and Shauna McGovern scored two goals each with Abbie Walsh also finding the net
Mens Division One
St Josephs 4 Tombrack United 5
The men's first team made history on Sunday morning when they overcame St Josephs by the odd goal in nine and have now earned an opportunity to play off for a place in the Premier Division. St Josephs are in a battle against relegation and needed something from this game and went for it, right from the start and led three times in the game before Tombrack overturned them to take the vital three points. James Coleman scored twice, one of them being the winner with Joe Newe, Kevin Coleman and Bob Newe also scoring in this historic victory
Womens Division Three Cup Final
Tombrack United 5 Stoney LFC 2
Our Women's team completed the league and cup double when they overcame a dogged Stoney side in a very wet Bunclody on Sunday morning. Stoney started well and Ashling Kavanagh was called on early in the game to pull off a vital save when denying Chloe Foxe in a one on one situation. Despite playing into a heavy wind, Tombrack became more dominant as the game wore on and after twenty minutes, Shannon McGovern found space on the edge of the box to curl the ball into the net. Ten minutes later, Mary Boland broke down the right wing and her swerving ball deceived the Stoney keeper and landed in the net for 2-0. Stoney played with a bit more purpose after this second goal and pulled one back when Chloe Foxe went down in the area and stood up to slot home the resultant penalty. The early part of the second half saw Tombrack more dominant and on sixty minutes, Sharon Walsh worked very hard to find space and slot the ball under the keeper into the net. With twelve minutes remaining, Breda Cushen scored the goal of the match when striking an unstoppable shot to the roof of the net from thirty yeards out. Stoney did pull another one back with seven minutes to go when Chloe Foxe curled a free kick in off the post but it was Tombrack who had the final say when Mary Boland battled through a crowded penalty area to slot past the keeper for a 5-2 victory. Shannon McGovern collected the player of the match award and we will leave the report on the team's celebrations for another day !!!
Thanks to everyone who turned out to support the team in terrible weather and to everyone who has supported the team throughout what has been a very successful season

Busy week ends in disappointment
Wexford Football League Division One
Curracloe United 2 Tombrack United 4
The lads travelled to Curracloe on Tuesday evening and a good 4-2 win saw them move to within one point of third place and a possible play off for a place in the Premier Division is still on the cards. In an exciting first half Richie O Hara and James Coleman were on target for the lads to lead 2-1 and although Curracloe levelled early in the second half, Tombrack reacted well to take all three points. Kevin Coleman crossed into the area for Savo to restore the lead and when Jamie Walsh scored, the three points were secured
Neil O Sullivan Cup Semi Final
Tombrack United 0 Bridge Rovers 1
An exciting cup semi final ended in heartbreak for Tombrack when a last minute goal saw them knocked out of the Neil O Sullivan Cup in a game they could have won. This was never going to be an easy game as two of the top teams in the division clashed but Tombrack will feel they left it behind them as they created sufficient chances to book their place in the final. However they found the Bridge Rovers goalkeeper to be in super form and he pulled off some excellent saves at crucial points in the game and as the game seemed to be heading to extra time, Bridge capitalised on a loose ball in the area to shoot to the net. At this late stage, it was almost impossible to grab an equaliser and Rovers held on for the win.
The lads now travel to St Josephs next Sunday looking for the win that will ensure them of a play off for a place in the Premier division
Schoolboys Under Twelve Division Three
Tombrack United 3 Cloughbawn AFC 1
An excellent first half performance saw our our Under Twelve boys pick up a vital three points on Monday evening to keep their chances of finishing runners up alive. They led 3-0 at half time thanks to goals from Danny Dreelan, Stephen O Toole and Nathan Kelly and although Cloughbawn pulled one back in the second half, the lads held on for the win. This victory shows the improvement in the team as Cloughbawn won the match between the sides earlier in the season 5-0. The lads take on leaders Shelburne on Tuesday evening in Tombrack in another crucial match
Schoolboys Under Fifteen Division Three
Wexford Albion 2 Tombrack United 3
Our Under Fifteen boys ended their season with a win and cemented third place with a 3-2 win away to Wexford Albion. David Power, Sean Murtagh and Harry Fitzgibbon were all on target for the lads who were competitive all season and actually inflicted the only defeat of the season on the league winners Gorey Rangers when they beat them in one of the early games of the season
Schoolgirls Under Twelve Division Two B
Tombrack United 1 Taghmon United 4
Our Under Twelve Schoolgirls completed their season on Saturday when they hosted Taghmon United in Ballyboy. Ana Dragusan was on target for the girls in a game that was much closer than the scoreline suggests.
Women Division Three Cup Final
Next Sunday will see the Women's team take on Stoney LFC in Bunclody at 11-30am in the Divisional Three Cup Final. All support is greatly appreciated as the Women go in search of a League and Cup double

Men set new record with big win
Wexford Football League Division One
Tombrack United 0 Forth Celtic 2
Wednesday night saw our lads go down 2-0 to Forth Celtic in a game where there was little between the teams but it was Forth's hunger for points that proved the telling factor in the end. Both sides enjoyed equal possession but the visitors took the lead midway through the first half and defended well enough to hold that lead to half time. On seventy minutes they were awarded a free kick which was well taken and hit the roof of the net to ensure an important three points in their battle against relegation
Tombrack United 10 St Leonards 0
Our men bounced back on Sunday against a young St Leonards side and edge closer and closer to a third place finish and to the best of my knowledge, set a team record with this 10-0 win. In a game that Tombrack controlled from start to finish Savo scored a hat trick, James Coleman and Eoin Carton scored two each with Jamie Walshe, Kevin Kenny and Matthew Hendrick all adding one each. This win moves the lads to within five points of a play off spot with four games to go and a Neil O Sullivan Cup semi final against Bridge Rovers next Sunday in Ajax at 11am.
The previous record for the men's team was a 9-0 win in 1994 against Bridge United in the Carlow League
Under Ten Schoolgirls Division One
Tombrack United 1 Fastnet Rovers 0
Our Under Ten girls wrapped up their season with a win and finished third in the table, a great achievement for a very young side. Emer Roche scored the only goal of this entertaining match where our girls put in one of their best performances of the season and were all rewarded with an Easter Egg at the end of the match
Well done to Martin and Rebecca and all the players, parents and supporters who worked so hard all season
Under Eighteen Schoolgirls Seven a Side
Bree United 1 Tombrack United 1
Our Under Eighteen girls are still in contention for the title after this 1-1 draw away to league leaders Bree. Kelli Maguire gave our girls the lead but Bree levelled in the second half and two good saves from keeper Leanne Kenny saw our girls hold on for a well earned point. They now have one game left at home to St Leonards and a win will see our girls involved in a three way play off for the title
Tombrack United 0 Forth Celtic 2
Wednesday night saw our lads go down 2-0 to Forth Celtic in a game where there was little between the teams but it was Forth's hunger for points that proved the telling factor in the end. Overall good weekend for the club
Under Ten Schoolgirls Division One
Wexford Youths 2 Tombrack United 0
Our Under Ten girls put an immensely strong battle against cup finalists Wexford Youths before eventually going down 2-0 and missing out on their chance to finish second. The home side scored early and that dictated the game as Tombrack had to come in search of an equaliser which they were unlucky not to get and Youths wrapped up the three points with a second goal near the end. This Tombrack under ten team has competed well all season and can now finish off the season on a high when they take on Fastnet Rovers in Ballyboy next Saturday
Wexford Football League Division One
St Leonards 2 Tombrack United 3
Our men's first team collected another vital three points in their battle against relegation when they came from behind to overcome St Leonards in Ballycullane. The home side led 2-1 at half time with Eoin Carton continuing his good scoring run with a goal midway through the half. A second half Bob Newe penalty brought the sides level and Eoin scored again to give Tombrack a vital win. They now take on Forth Celtic in Tombrack on Wednesday evening followed by a home game against St Leonards next Sunday
Wexford Football League Division Four A Play Off
Tombrack United 2 Boolavogue United 2 (after extra time)
Tombrack won 5-4 on penalties
The men's second team ended their season on a high when they overcame Boolavogue United on penalties after coming from behind twice to earn promotion for the second season in a row. in a lack lustre first half, Boolavogue took the lead after Tombrack had failed to take their chances in front of goal but early in the second half, John Ryan scored to bring the sides level. Boolavogue went ahead again just on the hour mark but some good periods of play from Tombrack saw John Ryan score his second late in the game to bring the game to extra time. No further goals saw the game go to penalties where keeper Eoghan Murphy saved one and John Ryan rounded off a great day by scoring what proved to be the winning penalty.
Well done to John Brownrigg and everyone involved in working hard at the end of the season to earn a play off and eventually win promotion to Division Four. Enjoy the celebrations !!!
Wexford Women's League Division Three
Tombrack United 2 Fastnet Rovers 0
The Women completed their season when a hard working eleven players overcame a dogged Fastnet side who worked hard up to the final whistle. Eleven wins and a draw from their twelve games saw the team go the season unbeaten but more impressively they scored 37 goals and conceded just 2 in those games. Mary Boland gave them the lead in this game after twenty minutes but Tombrack had to defend strongly to keep Fastnet from getting back on level terms with the back four and keeper all working very hard. The second half saw Tombrack up the intensity as the visitors began to struggle with fitness and injuries but it was two minutes from the end before Shannon McGovern crossed for Leanne Kenny to score the insurance goal. The Women must now prepare for their Divisional Cup final when they will take on Stoney LFC on April 30th at a venue to be confirmed

Unfortunate Injury and an Important Three Points
Wexford Football League Division One
Tombrack United 1 St Cormacs 2
The second of four games in eight days saw our lads go down 2-1 to fellow relegation threatened St Cormacs and probably even more vital on the night is we lost goalkeeper Paul Darcy with a nasty knee injury that saw him head to hospital. The game was deadlocked at 1-1 at half time with Eoin Carton on target for Tombrack and it was also in that opening forty five minutes that our keeper picked up his injury and player manager Joe Newe had to take over in goal. He could do little to stop the shot that won the game for St Cormacs when they scored with fifteen minutes to go and although the home side did all they could to get back on level terms, they could not break down a hungrier St Cormacs side on the night. Everyone in the club wish Paul a speedy recovery and we hope the injury is not as bad as was first feared
Wexford Football League Division One
Tombrack United 3 Taghmon United 1
Two days later, Tombrack were back in action and picked up an important three points as they eventually overcame a dogged Taghmon side in Ballyboy. The lads had to work hard for these three points but they were well earned and deserved and will be important as we try to pull away from the bottom three. Goals were scored by Eoin Carton, James Coleman and Darragh Hendrick and in the end the scoreline could have been more comfortable but manager Joe Newe was happy with the win and the performance. Next up is away to St Leonards on Sunday at 11am followed by a home game to Forth Celtic on Wednesday night.
Best of luck to our Men's B team who take on Boolavogue United on Sunday at 11am in Ajax pitch in their promotion play off as they go in search of their second promotion in a row

Women's Cup final and Mens play off place confirmed
Volkswagon Wexford Cup Fourth Round
New Ross Celtic 1 Tombrack United 0
Our men travelled to Premier side New Ross Celtic in this Wexford Cup match and will feel unlucky not to have caused an upset by knocking the high profile home side out f the competition. In an evenly contested first half, both sides created chances but defence's dominated and the game was scoreless at the break. As could be expected, Celtic had more of the ball but had to work hard to break down the visitors defence although they eventually got the breakthrough with fifteen minutes to go and will now meet North End in the quarter final. Overall, our lads can be happy with this cup run as they now head into a busy week as they play at home to St Cormacs on Tuesday evening and home to Taghmon United on Thursday
Wexford Football League Division Four A
Tombrack United B 5 Bree Unted B 2
The men's second team earned themselves a play-off for promotion when they overcame Bree United 5-2 to get the three points they needed to tie with Boolavogue United in third place. The lads got off to an ideal start when Kieran Kenny drilled the ball through a crowded area and into the corner of the net after just five minutes. Two goals from prolific goal scorer Mick "Savo" Kelly had the lads 3-1 ahead at half time and he continued his good scoring form with two second half goals to secure a 5-2 victory. Well done to John and the lads and the possibility of a second promotion in a row remains a distinct reality
Women's Division Three Cup Semi Final
Tombrack United 4 Bridge Rovers 0
The Women are through to the Divisional Cup Final when they overcame a stubborn Bridge Rovers side with another overall good team performance. Tombrack started strongly and went 1-0 up on seventeen minutes when the Rovers keeper saved a Shannon McGovern shot but Sharon Walsh was on hand to slot away the rebound. Shannon should have made it 2-0 shortly after but saw her shot sail over the crossbar before Rovers came into the game and enjoyed their better spell with Ashling Kavanagh saving well twice. Three minutes before half time, the home side broke from midfield and Shannon found the net with a delicate chip to make it 2-0.
Tombrack kept up the intensity in the second half and ten minutes in, Marie Allen sent a thirty five yard shot to the net and seven minutes later, Shannon got her second and wrapped up the match when she rounded the keeper. Leanne Kenny, Sharon Walsh and Tammy Hennessy all went close before the end and Tombrack will now go through to a cup final meeting with Stoney on April 30th
Squad: Ashling Kavanagh, Mary Martin (Lauren Byrne), Breda Cushen, Eimear Whelan, Tia Byrne, Marie Allen, Mary Boland, Kelli Maguire, Chloe Hayden Doyle (Katie O Toole), Sharon Walsh (Leanne Kenny) Shannon McGovern (Tammy Hennessy)

No Luck on April Fools Day for our Underage teams
Under Ten Schoolgirls Division One
All Blacks 2 Tombrack United 0
Our youngest girls team travelled to Mayglass this morning for a vital league tie that would effectively determine their season. Despite playing very well. luck was not on their side and they eventually lost 2-0 which wrapped up the league for the home. All Blacks took an early lead and despite Tombrack working hard to get back on level terms, including bringing two good saves from the keeper and also hitting the post, the home team clinched the game with a second goal in the final minute. Our girls are still well in contention for second place with two games to go, the first of those two games is away to Wexford Youths next Saturday
Under Twelve Schoolboys Division Three
Tombrack United 2 Curracloe United 2
Our Under Twelve boys will wonder how they managed to throw away this match and possibly their chance of challenging for the title along with it. Goals from Niall Mimnagh and Stephen O Toole had our lads 2-0 up and looked to be well in control but they allowed Curracloe back in the game and back to level terms. A late missed penalty added to their woes and although this draw has hindered their title ambitions, they are still in contention for at least second place with three games to go
Under Fourteen Schoolgirls Division Two B
Tombrack United 1 North End United 4
The Under Fourteen girls put up a brave battle against league leaders North End before eventually falling to a 4-1 defeat. Abbie Walsh was on target for Tombrack but the firepower of North End, and Katie Law in particular, proved too much for our girls and the Wexford town side eventually left Ballyboy with the three points
Under Eighteen Shield Quarter Final
Tombrack United 1 Gorey Rangers 1 (aet)
(Gorey Rangers won 3-2 on penalties)
Our Under Eighteen girls bowed out of the Shield on penalties despite dominating this match for long periods and creating several and many chances. Rangers did play to their strengths and defended strongly and then scored with their first and only counter attack of the game which left the home team shell shocked. However they battled back and were rewarded when Becky Connaughton scored to bring the sides level and the game moved to extra time where no further goals saw the game go to penalties. Becky and Kelli Maguire scored their spot kicks but the visitors held their nerve to advance to the semi finals

Good weekend continues with Two good wins
Neil O Sullivan Cup Quarter Final
North End United B 2 Tombrack United 3
The lads are through to the semi final of the Neil O Sullivan Cup after they survived a late scare from North End to go through. Most of the goals came early in the game and Tombrack led 3-1 at half time after Richie O Hara, Rory Newe and James Coleman had all found the net and seemed to be well in control of the match. The second half was much closer as North End battled to get back into the game and were rewarded when they scored with six minutes remaining but our lads used their experience to hold on for a well deserved place in tomorrow night's semi final draw.
"News is now breaking that one of more experienced players missed a penalty at a crucial stage in this game with the crossbar allegedly damaged and a ball gone missing......updates to follow"
The cup drama continues next week when the lads travel to New Ross Celtic in the last sixteen of the Wexford Cup with an 11am kick off
Wexford Football League Division Four A
Tombrack United 3 Enniscorthy Town 0
Our men's second team are still in the running for a play off for promotion after this comfortable 3-0 win over Enniscorthy Town. With just one game remaining, the lads are just three points behind Boolavogue United who are in third and have completed their season so a win over Bree United next Sunday will see both sides tied for third place.
In this win over Enniscorthy Town, Eoghan Murphy scored twice with Jamie Murphy also finding the net to set up a big game at home to Bree at 1-30pm next Sunday

Two good wins for Schoolgirls
Under Twelve Schoolgirls Division Two B
Tombrack United 3 Wexford Youths 1
Our Under Twelve girls produced one of their best performances of the season when they overcame third placed Wexford Youths 3-1 to secure three points that will most likely see them avoid relegation. Ana Dragusan continued her good season in front of goal with a hat trick in a game where our girls were well deserving of the victory
Under Sixteen Schoolgirls Premier One
Tombrack United 3 Courtown Hibs 1
Our Under Sixteen girls need only one point to wrap up the Premier title after they overcame a tricky match at home to a young Courtown Hibs side. Sisters Shannon and Shauna McGovern and Nadine Fortune were all on target for our girls who had to work hard for their three points but deservedly got their in the end

Good day for Adult teams
Wexford Football League Division One
Tombrack United 0 Ferns United 0
After last weeks defeat away to Bridge Rovers, it was vital that our men's first team produced a good performance and despite missing some key players, they did just that in this local derby at home to Ferns United. Tombrack did edge the possession statistics but found the Ferns defence difficult to break down with James Coleman going closest when he had a header cleared off the line. Richie O Hara also saw a shot go just wide while at the other end, keeper Paul Darcy was called on to make some vital saves near the end. This point moves the lads closer to safety in this division while Ferns badly needed the three points to keep their title ambitions alive. Overall manager Joe Newe was happy with a point and will now concentrate on next Sunday's Neil O Sullivan Cup Quarter Final away to North End United B
Wexford Football League Division Four A
Tombrack United 7 Rosslare Port 5
Our men's second team kept alive their promotion hopes when they overcame Rosslare Port in this twelve goal thriller, a win that keeps them in touch with the top three. Nine of the goals were scored in the first half with the lead changing hands several times before Port went in at the break 5-4 up. A much more disciplined display in the second half saw Tombrack score three goals to eventually take all three points. Eoghan Murphy scored two with Jamie Murphy, Kevin Kenny, John Ryan, Mike "Savo" Kelly and James Kehoe all scoring one goal each.
Women's Division Three Cup Quarter Final
Ajax Athletic 0 Tombrack United 3
After being fixed four times and postponed because of the weather, this divisional cup quarter final eventually was played and Tombrack booked a semi final meeting with Bridge Rovers with a 3-0 win. The women started the game at an intense pace and had Ajax under pressure from the start with Sharon Walsh, Leanne Kenny and Kelli Maguire all going close in the first ten minutes. The breakthrough eventually came on twenty two minutes when Marie Allen sent a thirty yard shot to the roof of the net, followed by a Mary Boland goal fifteen minutes later. Tombrack's domination continued in the second half with Chloe Hayden Doyle, Katie O Toole and player of the match Kelli Maguire all going close before Mary Boland scored her second ten minutes from the end to secure the win. This performance was probably one of the teams most complete performances of the season and showed the strength of depth in the squad and they will now play Bridge Rovers in the semi final on Sunday April 2nd

Under Ten girls suffer shock defeat
Under Ten Schoolgirls Division One
Tombrack United 1 St Leonards 2
Our schoolgirls team suffered a shock defeat this morning when despite dominating long periods of the game, they came out on the wrong end of a 2-1 scoreline, falling to their first league defeat of the season. Emer Roche put our girls ahead early in the first half but St Leonards were quickly back on level terms and the game remained like that until the break. Tombrack enjoyed most of the possession in the second half as they went in search of a winner but disaster struck when the visitors broke and scored and then defended strongly to hold on for the three points.
Despite this defeat, our girls remain in second place and with three games remaining, their league ambitions are still in their own hands

Results from weekend of 12-03-2017
Under Eleven Schoolboys
Tombrack United v Ballymurn Celtic
Our Under Eleven boys produced one of their best performances of the season as they battled strongly against a hard working Ballymurn side. Both teams played slick passing football despite difficult conditions underfoot and both sets of management were delighted with their players performances.
Under Twelve Schoolgirls Division Two B
Rosslare Strand 5 Tombrack United 5
These two sides have produced nineteen goals in the two games they played against each other and this 5-5 draw in Rosslare produced some excellent football. Our girls were chasing the game all the way through, trailing 1-0, 2-1 and eventually 5- 3 before a late comeback earned our girls a point. Ana Dragusan scored four with Marita McCrea scoring her first ever goal for the club
Under Thirteen Schoolboys Division Three
Gorey Celtic B 5 Tombrack United 1
Conor Salt was on target for our Under Thirteen boys as they played out their final game of the season against league leaders Gorey Celtic who are only one point from the title after this win. Our lads put in a strong performance and only trailed 2-1 at the break and were well in contention throughout the second half but the home side were just that bit sharper in front of goal. Well done to Bob and David on a great season
Under Sixteen Schoolgirls Premier One
Cloughbawn AFC 2 Tombrack United 4
Our Under Sixteen girls are within touching distance of the Premier title after they came away from rivals Cloughbawn 4-2 winners and worst case scenario is we need four points from their last two games to clinch the title. Cloughbawn took the lead in this game before Nicola Ryan headed home a corner to bring the sides level just before half time and goals from Shannon McGovern and Becky Connnaughton had our girls 3-1 up. The home side did pull one back before Becky scored her second to wrap up a vital three points
Youths Division Four
Tombrack United 1 Camolin Celtic 1
Played in front of a large crowd, this potential league decider produced some excellent football with both sides giving 100%, with our lads needing to win to force a play off while Camolin just needed a point to wrap up the title. Kevin Kenny gave Tombrack the ideal start when he scored a free kick on seven minutes to take a well deserved lead and Camolin had their goalkeeper to thank for keeping it at 1-0 as he made two excellent saves from John Kavanagh and Kevin Kenny. However, with eight minutes to go to half time, Camolin forced a corner and Tombrack failed to clear and the visitors slotted the ball into the net. The second half was very evenly matched with Tombrack looking for the elusive winner while Camolin were in search of the goal that would clinch the title. Time ran out in the end and the visitors secured the point they needed to be crowned divisional champions while Tombrack finished runners up after been unbeaten all season. The players gave everything in this match with all putting in one hundred per cent and Jack Kehoe in particular producing aman of the match performance
Well done to Willie, Bridget and the players as well as everyone involved in a very historic season as these are the first medals collected by the club at Youth level
Men's Division One
Bridge Rovers 4 Tombrack United 0
Our men's team got the worst possible start in this match against one of the top teams in the division when they found themselves 3-0 down and a man down twenty minutes into the game. Bridge started strongly and had our defence under pressure from the start and were rewarded with three early goals and then Eoin Carton was sent off after an altercation with the referee and there was no way back after that. The lads showed great character for the remaining seventy minutes and conceded only one goal in the second half but will now need to prepare for next week's, which will most likely be one of the cup games
Gwyn Jones Cup Second Round
Wexford Albion B 2 Tombrack United 1
Our second team travelled to Wexford Albion with just eleven players for this Gwyn Jones Cup tie and put up a strong performance before bowing out 2-1. Eoghan Murphy was on target for the lads but found the Albion side just that bit sharper on the day

Vital win for men in Boolavogue
Wexford Football League Division One
St Cormacs 2 Tombrack United 3
In one of only two matches played in the men's league, our lads made the short journey to St Cormacs and after a dogged battle in very difficult conditions, they came away with a very important three points. Tombrack started well and went in front on eighteen minutes when Eoin Carton found the net but fifteen minutes later, St Cormacs were deservedly back on level terms.
Our lads started the second half well and after creating some good chances, they went 2-1 ahead when Eoin scored his second on the hour mark and seven minutes later, he completed his hat trick to put the lads 3-1 ahead. The home side pulled a goal back with ten minutes remaining but Tombrack did enough to see out the game to pick up all three points and move level with St Cormacs and Wexford Bohs but with several games in hand on both.
The lads are in an interesting position as they currently involved in a relegation battle but if they won their games in hand, they would go top of the table so it is still a long and interesting season ahead for the lads with also still being involved in two cups
In the only other league game played, Corach Ramblers moved top of the division with a 2-0 win at home to St Leonards

Under Fourteen boys sign off with a win
Under Ten Schoolgirls Cup Quarter Final
Ballindaggin 4 Tombrack United 1
Our youngest girls side bowed out of the cup to holders and favourites Ballindaggin in a game where the girls showed great spirit and character against a very talented home side. Ballindaggin took the lead midway through first half but a goal from Mikayla Tobin Cosgrave had the sides level just before half time. An early goal from the home side had Tombrack on the back foot and as they worked hard to get back into the game, Ballindaggin scored twice more to book their place in the semi finals. Our girls can be proud of their performance against one of the best teams in the league and we can now concentrate on finishing well in division one where the girls are currently second.
Under Fourteen Schoolgirls Cup Quarter Final
Forth Celtic 3 Tombrack United 2
A strong first half performance from Forth Celtic saw them go 3-0 up in this cup quarter final but our girls showed great character in the second half to come back strongly and will feel unlucky not to have brought the game to extra time. After conceding three goals in the first half, a more determined Tombrack side came out in the second half and a goal from Aoibhe McSweeney gave a glimmer of hope and when Amy Tobin Cosgrave sent a free kick to the roof of the net, it was game on. However, Forth held firm and although they had to clear the ball off the line in the dying minutes they held on to go through to the last four. It was one of the best performances of the season from our under fourteen girls and they can now concentrate on pushing hard for promotion in the league
Under Fourteen Schoolboys Division Three
Tombrack United 3 Gorey Rangers 1

Our Under Fourteen boys completed their season with a 3-1 win over Gorey Rangers and finish the season a very creditable fourth with five wins from their ten games. They were always in control in this game and were well deserving of their three points with goals from Eavan Maher, William Kenny and Conor Salt. They are a group of players with loads of potential and are the future of the club and well done to all including manager Willie Maher and Bob Newe who assisted in any way possible when needed and club secretary Bridget Nolan Kenny who ensured everything happened as it should.
We look forward to these lads (and girl) progressing up to Under Fifteen next season
Under Eighteen Schoolgirl Sevens
Tombrack United 1 Gorey Rangers 0
Our Under Eighteen girls moved joint top of the table after this win over a Gorey Rangers side who worked hard defensively. Tombrack dominated the game for the full fifty minutes but Gorey proved a stubborn defence to break down until the home side were awarded a penalty in the final minute which Becky Connaughton held her nerve to convert to give the girls a well deserved three points and their fifth win of the season. The girls are now in a very strong position with two games to go and its in their own hands as they play their closest challengers in those games. Well done to Pat and the girls for doing well at a very difficult age group.

Well done to Pat and the girls for doing well at a very difficult age group.

Men through to last Sixteen of Wexford Cup
Volkswagon Wexford Cup Third Round
Tombrack United 3 Adamstown FC 1
Played in horrendous weather conditions, our men's first team used the conditions to their advantage to eventually break down a dogged Adamstown defence to advance to the last sixteen of the Wexford Cup for only the second time in the club history. Playing with a strong wind at their back, the lads dominated the first half but found the visitors defence difficult to break down until five minutes before half time when two James Coleman goals put Tombrack in control.
The weather deteriorated even further in the second half and despite a strong gale behind them, Adamstown were unable to break down a well organised Tombrack defence although Brian Hayden did have to clear off the line midway through the half. However as the half wore on, Tombrack took more control of the game and began to create several chances of their own before James was taken down in the box with ten minutes to go and Bob Newe stepped up to slam home the resultant penalty. Adamstown did score a late consolation goal but it was too little too late the lads held on to comfortably progress to the fourth round.
The Mens B team and the Women's games against Wexford Albion and Ajax respectively were both called off due to unplayable pitches

Youths ensure at least second place with win in St Josephs
Under Eleven Schoolboys Division Two A
Tombrack United v Corach Ramblers
Our Under Eleven boys continue to be involved in high scoring encounters and today against Corach Ramblers was no different. Our lads created several chances but found it difficult to break down a hard working Ramblers defence but eventually did score through Stephen O Toole and Luke Regan
Youths Division Four
St Josephs 0 Tombrack United 7
Our Youths team ensured at least runners up spot with this comfortable win away to St Josephs and have now set up a situation where if they beat leaders Camolin Celtic in the final game of the season, they will set up a play off with the same opposition for the league title. Tombrack were always in control of this game and goals from John Kavanagh, Jamie Roban, Jack Kehoe and Conor Kehoe as well as a hat trick from Kevin Kenny saw our lads set up one, or hopefully two, vital fixtures with Camolin. Irrelevant of what happens, the lads can not finish any lower than second but manager Willie Maher has his sights firmly set on silverware

Mens Divison One
Corach Ramblers 2 Tombrack United 0
Two first half goals secured an important three points as two of the contenders for the division title met for the first time this season. Tombrack enjoyed the slightly better possession but were unable to break down a resilient Ramblers defence who once they got ahead in the game, they were never going to concede easily. While this defeat was a setback, it was only a minor one and there is a lot of football to be played in this division before the final positions are decided.
Next Sunday sees the lads at home to Adamstown in the cup at 11am
Women's Division Three
Tombrack United 3 Ajax Athletic 0
The women recorded their tenth win of the season as they overcame a hard working Ajax side who are showing massive improvement with every game. It took thirty eight minutes before the league champions eventually scored with Shannon McGovern reacting quickest when the Ajax keeper parried a Breda Cushen shot. Earlier in the game, Shannon had hit the post with a corner while Kelli Maguire had went close twice. The second half performance from Tombrack was much more efficient and went 2-0 up when Mary Boland got on the end of a through ball and rounded the keeper to roll the ball into an empty net. A goal midway through the second half from Shannon finished off the scoring and the remainder of the game was played out in anticipation of the celebrations to follow when league committee member Adrian Kehoe was on hand to present the cup to Tombrack captain Eimear Whelan. The night that followed will go down in history....for anyone that can remember it
Squad: Ashling Kavanagh, Mary Martin, Saoirse Harris (Tammy Hennessy) Eimear Whelan, Tia Byrne, Marie Allen, Mary Boland, Kelli Maguire (Leanne Kenny), Breda Cushen, Sharon Walsh (Katie O Toole), Shannon McGovern

Good day for underage teams
Under Ten Schoolboys
Enniscorthy Town v Tombrack United
The Under Ten boys were in Enniscorthy this morning and continued their development with an exciting match against the home side. Manager Darragh Hendrick was delighted with the performance where the lads produced some skilful passing football despite the difficult weather conditions
Under Ten Schoolgirls Division One
Tombrack United 2 Ferns United 0
Our Under Ten girls remain unbeaten and joint top of the league after they came out on top in this local derby against Ferns in a game where both sides produced some excellent passing football. A goal just before half time from Mikayla Tobin Cosgrave and one early in the second half from Megan Hayes gave our youngest girls team an important three points
Under Twelve Schoolboys Division Three
Cushinstown AFC 0 Tombrack United 11
Our Under Eleven boys remain in contention for the league after they comfortably overcame a young Cushinstown side, taking control of the game early on and keeping on top all the way through. Conor Dillon scored a hat trick with Nathan Kelly and Stephen O Toole adding two each while Robert McCrea, Danny Dreelan, Patrick Murphy and Daire Moynihan all scored one each. This win keeps the lads in contention with some big games coming up in the next few months
Under Fourteen Schoolgirls Division Two B
Tombrack United 0 Seaview United 1
In a game where defences dominated, chances were kept to an absolute minimum and as the game progressed, it looked like a scoreless draw was on the cards until a goal two minutes from time gave Seaview all three points. Both sides effectively cancelled each other out with Amy Tobin Cosgrave, Shauna McGovern and Paulina Farynik all standing out for the home side
Under Eighteen Girls Seven's
Wexford Celtic 0 Tombrack United 3
Both these sides were gravely under strength but it was our girls who took control of the game and came away with a three points that moves them right back into contention for the league title. Our girls were always in control and led 2-0 at half time with the McGovern sisters, Shannon and Shauna both finding the net. Nicola Ryan scored midway through the second half to wrap up the three points and with three games to go, our girls are right back in the mix. Well done to Pat and the seven girls who traveled to Wexford for this game

Two big results for adult teams
Neil O Sullivan Cup Second Round
New Ross Town 0 Tombrack United 1
Our men's first team are through to the last eight of the Neil O Sullivan Cup when they came away from New Ross Town with a 1-0 victory after a dogged battle in difficult conditions in Good Counsel College. This was a game that was always a potential banana skin as the home side as the Division Two A side are enjoying a good season and are well in the hunt for promotion. However our lads were well up for the game and a goal from Eoin Carton proved to be the difference between the two sides and it could have been more as Tombrack were well in control and created the lion share of the chances. They now are in the quarter finals of this cup and the third round of the Wexford Cup and with thirteen league matches left, it looks like a lot of football to be played still
Women's League Division Three
Tombrack United 5 St Cormacs 0
A dominant second half performance saw our women see off St Cormacs 5-0 and wrap up the league title with nine wins and one draw from the ten games played so far. Played on a sticky surface, Tombrack were unlucky not to take control in the first half as Shannon McGovern, Kelli Maguire and Mary Boland all went close with the latter bringing an excellent save from the keeper. However we were lucky not to go behind as St Cormacs broke and Breda Cushen had to clear off the line to keep the sides level. The goal eventually came when a probing run from Mary Boland saw her shot be parried away by the keeper only for Shannon McGovern to bravely pounce and fire the ball to the net.
The second half began ideally when Sarah Merrigan fired a shot to the corner of the net after just two minutes and this was quickly followed by Kelli Maguire capitalising on a keeper error to score while Shannon and Sarah rounded off the scoring for a 5-0 win.
This win secures the league title for the women with two games to spare, scoring 32 goals and conceding just 2, with the presentation of the cup being made after their match at home to Ajax next Sunday
Squad: Ashling Kavanagh, Mary Martin, Breda Cushen, Eimear Whelan, Tia Byrne, Marie Allen, Sarah Merrigan (Katie O Toole), Kelli Maguire (Tammy Hennessy), Mary Boland (Saoirse Harris). Marie Allen, Sharon Walsh (Tammy Hennessy), Shannon McGovern, Chloe Hayden Doyle. Lauren Byrne

Mixed day of results for underage
Under Twelve Schoolgirls Division Two B
Tombrack United 1 St Josephs 3
Our girls put in one of their best performances of the season had no luck as they created several chances against a clinical St Josephs side who ran out 3-1 winners to move second in the table. Our games battled hard throughout the forty minutes with Ana Dragusan bringing several saves from the keeper before finally scoring in the final minute while Rachel McSweeney and Katlyn Kehoe also went close. This team deserved at least a draw from this game and a was definitely a possibility but they just did not get the breaks. Well done to all involved
Under Thirteen Schoolboys Division Three
Tombrack United 8 Bree United 0
Our Under Fourteen boys kept alive their chances of a medal with this big win over a young Bree side. Our lads were always in control in this game and Bree had no answer to the firepower of the home side as they ran out comfortable 8-0 winners. Conor Salt scored a hat trick with Conor O Toole and Conor Walsh scoring two each while John Joe Murphy also scored. The lads now need to win their final game and hopefully some other results might go their way to bring them into contention for promotion
Under Fifteen Schoolboys Division Three
St Josephs 0 Tombrack United 5
The lads remain in contention for runners up spot after this 5-0 win away to St Josephs and moved back into second place with these three points. Tombrack never looked in trouble in this game and goals from Stuart Power, Josh McMullan, Barry O Toole and two from Thomas Jeffers gave the under fifteens their sixth win of the season
Under Sixteen Schoolgirls Premier One Division
Tombrack United 4 Cloughbawn AFC 0
The under sixteen girls bounced back from their defeat in St Leonards to overcome closest challengers Cloughbawn 4-0 with a strong second half performance. The first half was closely contested with both sides creating chances but it was Tombrack who found the net through Shannon McGovern. Cloughbawn did react and came on the attack, putting the ball in the net only to be ruled offside. The second half performance saw the girls press forward against a young Cloughbawn side and two more goals from Shannon as well as one from her younger sister Shauna saw Tombrack collect a very important three points in their quest for the premier title. Well done to Sean, Bridget and all involved
Wexford League Youths Cup Second Round
Tombrack United 0 Campile United 4
A strong first half performance from our Youths team failed to produce any goals despite several close efforts and they ultimately paid the price in the second half. Kevin Kenny went close twice against the recently crowned Division Three champions who have been unbeaten all season and as happens in games like this, if chances are not converted, they are usually punished. Early in the second half, Campile got the break to score after just five minutes and as the half progressed, they added a second and with keeper Daniel Nolan Buckley and midfielder Kieran Kenny having to go off injured, Campile wrapped up the game with two more to book their place in the last eight. Hard luck to the lads and they can now move on and concentrate on their final two league games against St Josephs and Camolin where two wins would see them in at least a play off for the title

Some great performances in tough conditions
Volkswagon Wexford Cup Second Round
North End United "B" 1 Tombrack United 1 aet
(Tombrack won 4-3 on penalties)
Our lads are through to the third round of the Wexford Cup after they had to go all the way to a penalty shoot out to progress. There was never much between the sides and it was Tombrack who took the lead when Jamie Walsh shot to the net after some good possession but in the second half, the home side were awarded a penalty, which they scored, to bring the game to extra time. Tombrack had to play out the game with ten men as JJ got sent off in controversial circumstances but the lads dug in and when the game went to penalties, they held their nerve to go through to the last thirty two.
Men's Division Four A
Boolavogue United 4 Tombrack United 2
With three games to go in the league, our men's second team have given themselves an uphill battle to get promoted after this 4-2 defeat to Boolavogue. The two sides were just outside the top three going into this game but its the home side who have the advantage while our lads will probably need to win all three remaining games to have a chance of promotion. After a scoreless first half, Boolavogue went two up early in the second but Tombrack battled back onto level terms thanks to a goal from Jamie Murphy plus an own goal. However, as the game moved towards a finish, it was Boolavogue who got the breaks and scored two goals in the final ten minutes to take all three points.
Women's Division Three
Tombrack United 1 Bridge Rovers 0
The women have moved to within a point of clinching the title after they eventually broke down a very determined Bridge Rovers side in very difficult conditions. Rovers could have scored first only for a great save from Ashling Kavanagh and for most of the first half, the visitors enjoyed the better of the possession without really going close. Tombrack were much more focussed in the second half and went close when Chloe Hayden Doyle headed just wide after Katie O Toole had crossed while Tia Byrne brought a great save from the keeper with a well struck free kick which was pushed onto the crossbar. Breda Cushen eventually broke the deadlock with twenty minutes to go when she found space twenty five yards out to shoot to the bottom corner of the net. This proved to be the only goal of a very tight game and with three games to go, the women now just need a point to wrap up the title

Reports 28/01/2017
Under Nine Schoolboys
Our youngest squad of players returned to action today with a blitz in Courtown Hibs and as usual our lads put in an inspiring and skilful display while enjoying their day down near the coast. Well done to Bridget and her management and all the squad
Under Eleven Schoolboys
Tombrack United v Fethard Rangers
The Under Eleven league is now also non competitive so scores cannot be published from now on but this morning our lads played a very close game with Fethard Rangers. Our goals were scored by Conor Dillon and a long range effort from Luke Regan
Under Twelve Schoolgirls Division Two B
Wexford Youths 5 Tombrack United 2
Our Under Twelve girls put in a brave display against Wexford Youths before eventually going down 5-2. This young squad of ours are finding life difficult in this division but fielding teams every week and improving with every game. Ana Dragusan continued her good scoring form with two goals in this game
Under Thirteen Schoolboys Division Three
Glynn Barntown 1 Tombrack United 2
The Under Thirteen boys travelled to the Racecourse in Wexford and came away with all three points despite getting off to a horrible start, conceding after just five minutes. However, they battled back and equalised through Conor Salt just before half time and then Rashid Ashad scored to put us in front and our lads controlled the remainder of the game to hold on for the three points
Under Fifteen Schoolboys Division Three
Tombrack United 0 Kilmore United 1
This top of the table clash was very evenly contested and like all games of this nature, produced very few chances on either side. Our lads needed to win to stay in contention for the title and had to press that bit harder while league leaders Kilmore would probably have been happy with a draw and as usually happens in this case, we got caught on the break and Kilmore scored to take all three points. This defeat effectively kills off our chances of taking the title but the race is still on for second place
Youths Division Four
Killenagh Wan 2 Tombrack United 4
Our Youths produced one of their performances of the season to take three points away from Killenagh and keep their chances of taking the league title alive. Tombrack were always in control although Killenagh never gave up and kept in touch all the way to the end but our lads eventually came away with an invaluable three points. Goals from John Kavanagh, Jack Kehoe, Kevin Kenny and an own goal saw Tombrack leapfrog Killenagh into second place and just behind Camolin with two games to go

Three closely fought matches
Men's Division One
Forth Celtic 2 Tombrack United 3
No matter where the lads finish in this division, this win in Forth Celtic will go down as a landmark victory as this is one of the toughest venues in the county to get a result. The game was competitive from the word go and very little between the sides and when it was locked at 2-2 with minutes to go, it looked as if this was to be a hard earned away point. James Coleman and Eoin Carton had scored for Tombrack but in the dying minutes, Kevin Coleman crossed into the box and Eoin scored his second of the game as it rocketed off a defender into the back of the net. This win was no more than Tombrack deserved as they use their games in hand to pull themselves clear of relegation trouble and keep alive the dreams of promotion to the premier division
Men's Division Four A
Taghmon United 2 Tombrack United 1
This game was a catalogue of disasters from the start as our lads and the referee turned up for an 11am kick off that had been changed to 1pm without being notified. Tombrack were given the option of going home but decided to stay and get the fixture played and found themselves a goal down when the game eventually did kick off. Five minutes into the second half Eoghan Murphy brought the sides level and Tombrack had several chances to take the lead but squandered them and paid the ultimate price fifteen minutes from the end when Taghmon scored to take all three points. This loss could prove critical for Tombrack but they have a chance to bounce back with another important match away to Boolavogue next Sunday
MMI.ie Wexford Women's Cup Second Round
Tombrack United 3 St Josephs 4
The women bowed out of the cup after a seven goal thriller against Division Two A which was the teams first defeat in ten games. A poor first half saw the women fall 2-0 behind after some rare errors in defence but a Mary Boland goal managed to pull Tombrack back into the game just before half time. St Josephs strong point is their ability to finish and within fifteen minutes of the second half, they scored twice and seemed to be cruising through to a quarter final meeting with Fastnet. However, Breda Cushen came on as a sub and scored her first senior goal for the team, followed minutes later by another Mary Boland goal and it was game on. However, St Josephs used their vast experience to slow the game down and although Tombrack did go close before the end, the visitors held on for victory
**One bit of good news for the women was closest challengers for the league, Stoney LFC, were surprisingly beaten 1-0 by Cushinstown and moves Tombrack one step closer to the title**
Squad: Ashling Kavanagh (Katie O Toole), Mary Martin, Saoirse Harris, Eimear Whelan, Tia Byrne, Sarah Merrigan, Marie Allen, Kelli Maguire, Mary Boland, Sharon Walsh (Breda Cushen), Leanne Kenny (Shannon McGovern), Chloe Hayden Doyle

Good day for girls in cups
Under Ten Schoolgirls Cup Second
Tombrack United 1 All Blacks 1 (After extra time)
(Tombrack won 4-3 on penalties)
Our Under Ten girls progressed to the last eight of the cup after a thrilling victory over a well organised All Blacks side that went all the way to penalties to decide a winner. A thrilling first half saw both sides cancel each other out with both goalkeepers well in control of their areas with Eabha Guinan in the home goal playing particularly well. Tombrack started the better in the second half but as happens in these situations, All Blacks took the lead with a well taken goal from Naomi Denton. However, Tombrack were not behind for long and a well struck shot from Erin Tobin found the corner of the net to bring the sides back level. Tombrack continued to push for a winner with Mikayla Tobin Cosgrave, Megan Hayes and Eimear Roche all going close while Eabha in the goal as well as Chloe Byrne were busy in the defence keeping All Blacks at bay. No further goals saw the game going to extra time and eventually to penalties which went to sudden death before Eadha saved All Blacks seventh penalty to give our girls 4-3 victory.
Well done to Martin, Rebecca and the team on this great performance and now hope for a home draw in the last eight
Under Twelve Schoolboys Division Three
Tombrack United 1 New Ross Town 1
Our Under Twelve boys are still in contention for at least promotion after this 1-1 draw in what is proving to be a very tight and closely contested division. The lads started well in this game and their attacking style of football saw them pressing the Town defence back and on ten minutes were rewarded when Danny Dreelan fired a shot to the back of the net for a deserved lead. New Ross did press forward in search of an equaliser but found the home defence difficult to break down with Daire Moynihan playing exceptionally well in the Tombrack goal. New Ross eventually equalised when a full stretch save from Daire fell to an incoming forward and the ball ended up in the back of the net. The second half was all Tombrack but just could not find the goal to give them the three points and while I sometimes slag Bob about his "total football", the future of the club is in good hands if the standard of play from these players today is anything to go by. They deserved all three points but on the day that didn't happen and are still in contention for honours in a very close division
Under Fourteen Schoolgirls Cup Second Round
Tombrack United 6 Bree United 0
Our Under Fourteen girls have booked their place in the last eight of the cup after this comfortable win over a Bree side who defended strongly for the opening phase of the game but once the first goal was conceded, Tombrack were always in control. Nadine Fortune continued her good scoring form by knocking in four while Zoe Tobin Cosgrave and Shauna McGovern also found the net to book their place in the quarter finals and with three of the five Premier teams already knocked out of the cup, the dream of getting to another final remains alive. Well done to Pat, Martina and the girls
Under Fourteen Schoolboys Division Three
Newpark United 5 Tombrack United 3
The last time these two sides met, Newpark ran out comfortable 7-1 winners but this game was very different and the home side did not have it all their own way this time around. Newpark are locked in a battle for the title with Ballymurn Celtic but were never going to find this local derby and manager Willie Maher was delighted with the effort put in by his players. William Kenny, Adam Jeffers and Evan Maher were all on target for our hard working Under Fourteen squad who have had a decent season and will finish a respectable midtable and now have only one league match remaining. Another group of players who have done the club proud and have a great future ahead of them

Mixed Weekend of Results
Under Eleven Cup Second Round
Tombrack United 3 Gorey Celtic 7
Our Under Eleven boys produced one of their goal filled games as they put in a good display against a well organised Gorey Celtic before eventually losing out 7-3. Stephen O Toole scored all three goals for Tombrack but just could not contain the fire power of the Celtic side
Under Thirteen Cup First Round
Tombrack United 0 Wexford Albion 7
The Under Thirteen boys were given a tough draw in the cup when they came up against the league's top team Wexford Albion. Our lads worked hard against their experienced opposition and while Albion managed to score seven, Tombrack can feel happy with their days work
Under Fifteen Cup First Round
Tombrack United 2 Cloughbawn AFC 5
It was late in the game before Cloughbawn eventually got the upperhand of this game and were well in contention until midway through the second half. David Power and Josh McMullan were on target for Tombrack and they now can concentrate on their league run in where they are still in contention for the Division Three title
Ger Dunne Under Sixteen Schoolgirls Cup First Round
Bunclody AFC 1 Tombrack United 0
A below par performance in the first half from Tombrack saw Bunclody take an early lead in this high profile Under Sixteen cup game. The well organised home side were able to contain Tombrack for the remainder of the first half and although our girls dominated the second half, they were unable to break down a resolute Bunclody defence
Wexford Youths Cup First Round
Tombrack United 5 St Josephs 2
Our Youths made their way through to the second round of the cup when they overcame St Josephs 5-2. The lads were always in control in this game and two goals from John Kavanagh and one each from Kevin Kenny, Sean Kirwan and Kieran Kenny saw the lads through
Mens First Team
Neil O Sullivan Cup First Round
Tombrack United 0 Shelburne AFC 0 aet
(Tombrack United won 4-3 on pens)
After a very closely contested Neil O Sullivan Cup tie, the lads came through a very entertaining encounter and booked their place in the second round courtesy of a penalty shoot out. This was always going to be a potentially tricky match for our lads but they competed well and were always well in contention and in the end were probably deserving of their victory
The lads would also like to take this opportunity to wish keeper Jason Maguire the best of luck as he leaves the club to join Wexford Youths Under Nineteen squad. This is a great achievement for Jason and everyone in the club pass on our best wishes
Mens Second Team
Gwyn Jones Cup First Round
Tombrack United 2 Rosslare Rangers 0
Our men's second team pulled off one of the big upsets of the day when they knocked Division Four title challengers Rosslare Rangers out of the Gwyn Jones Cup. Our lads were good value for our win which was well deserved with goals from Lee McHale and James Hendrick
Womens Division Three
Stoney LFC 0 Tombrack United 1
Our women travelled to Horetown for this top of the table clash and after this 1-0 win, they now sit five points clear at the top of the table. Shannon McGovern put Tombrack ahead after six minutes and we were unlucky not to double that lead minutes later when Mary Boland hit the crossbar which was closely followed by Chloe Hayden Doyle going close. Stoney pulled themselves back into the game but our defence held firm with Mary Martin making a vital block ten minutes before half time to keep Tombrack in front. Our women continued to control the second half with Sarah Merrigan, Shannon, Marie Allenand Kelli Maguire all going close to doubling the lead with Breda Cushen and Leanne Kenny making immediate impacts when being introduced midway through the second half.
Tombrack were well deserving of the victory and while there are still four games to go, they have moved themselves into pole position in the division

Crossabeg AFC 3 Tombrack United B 2
Our men's B team put in an excellent performance against Division Two side Crossabeg and were unlucky to lose out by the odd goal in five. Mark O Connor and Mick "Savo" Kelly were on target for our lads who battled right to the end and will feel unfortunate not to have at least brought this cup tie to extra time
Women's Division Three
Cushinstown AFC 0 Tombrack United 6
Our women moved two points clear at the top of the table after this 6-0 win away to a hard working Cushinstown side whose goalkeeper picked this game to produce the performance of the season. After several near misses from Sarah Merrigan, Sharon Walsh, Mary Boland and Tammy Hennessy, Shannon McGovern eventually shot to the net just past the half hour mark to put the women in front. The constant pressure paid off in the second half as Shannon scored another two, followed by one from Kelli Maguire, then Shannon added her fourth before Sarah rounded off the 6-0 win with a well struck long range effort. Another of the schoolgirl squad made her debut in this match when Breda Cushen came on as a sub with twenty minutes to go.
The women now travel to Stoney next Sunday for the all important top of the table clash

Our Youths missed the opportunity to go joint top of the league when they led 2-0 in this vital league match but conceded two second half goals and had to settle for a point but still well in contention for the title and their faith is still in their own hands. Two goals from John Kavanagh had our lads in front and were in control of the game but too many missed chances proved costly as the home side got back into the game to score twice and earn a point. With three games to go, only three points seperate Camolin (16) Killenagh (14) and Tombrack (13) and our lads have both those teams still to play
