Mens Divison One
Corach Ramblers 2 Tombrack United 0
Two first half goals secured an important three points as two of the contenders for the division title met for the first time this season. Tombrack enjoyed the slightly better possession but were unable to break down a resilient Ramblers defence who once they got ahead in the game, they were never going to concede easily. While this defeat was a setback, it was only a minor one and there is a lot of football to be played in this division before the final positions are decided.
Next Sunday sees the lads at home to Adamstown in the cup at 11am
Women's Division Three
Tombrack United 3 Ajax Athletic 0
The women recorded their tenth win of the season as they overcame a hard working Ajax side who are showing massive improvement with every game. It took thirty eight minutes before the league champions eventually scored with Shannon McGovern reacting quickest when the Ajax keeper parried a Breda Cushen shot. Earlier in the game, Shannon had hit the post with a corner while Kelli Maguire had went close twice. The second half performance from Tombrack was much more efficient and went 2-0 up when Mary Boland got on the end of a through ball and rounded the keeper to roll the ball into an empty net. A goal midway through the second half from Shannon finished off the scoring and the remainder of the game was played out in anticipation of the celebrations to follow when league committee member Adrian Kehoe was on hand to present the cup to Tombrack captain Eimear Whelan. The night that followed will go down in history....for anyone that can remember it
Squad: Ashling Kavanagh, Mary Martin, Saoirse Harris (Tammy Hennessy) Eimear Whelan, Tia Byrne, Marie Allen, Mary Boland, Kelli Maguire (Leanne Kenny), Breda Cushen, Sharon Walsh (Katie O Toole), Shannon McGovern
