Men through to last Sixteen of Wexford Cup

Volkswagon Wexford Cup Third Round
Tombrack United 3 Adamstown FC 1
Played in horrendous weather conditions, our men's first team used the conditions to their advantage to eventually break down a dogged Adamstown defence to advance to the last sixteen of the Wexford Cup for only the second time in the club history. Playing with a strong wind at their back, the lads dominated the first half but found the visitors defence difficult to break down until five minutes before half time when two James Coleman goals put Tombrack in control.
The weather deteriorated even further in the second half and despite a strong gale behind them, Adamstown were unable to break down a well organised Tombrack defence although Brian Hayden did have to clear off the line midway through the half. However as the half wore on, Tombrack took more control of the game and began to create several chances of their own before James was taken down in the box with ten minutes to go and Bob Newe stepped up to slam home the resultant penalty. Adamstown did score a late consolation goal but it was too little too late the lads held on to comfortably progress to the fourth round.

The Mens B team and the Women's games against Wexford Albion and Ajax respectively were both called off due to unplayable pitches
