Two big results for adult teams

Neil O Sullivan Cup Second Round
New Ross Town 0 Tombrack United 1
Our men's first team are through to the last eight of the Neil O Sullivan Cup when they came away from New Ross Town with a 1-0 victory after a dogged battle in difficult conditions in Good Counsel College. This was a game that was always a potential banana skin as the home side as the Division Two A side are enjoying a good season and are well in the hunt for promotion. However our lads were well up for the game and a goal from Eoin Carton proved to be the difference between the two sides and it could have been more as Tombrack were well in control and created the lion share of the chances. They now are in the quarter finals of this cup and the third round of the Wexford Cup and with thirteen league matches left, it looks like a lot of football to be played still

Women's League Division Three
Tombrack United 5 St Cormacs 0
A dominant second half performance saw our women see off St Cormacs 5-0 and wrap up the league title with nine wins and one draw from the ten games played so far. Played on a sticky surface, Tombrack were unlucky not to take control in the first half as Shannon McGovern, Kelli Maguire and Mary Boland all went close with the latter bringing an excellent save from the keeper. However we were lucky not to go behind as St Cormacs broke and Breda Cushen had to clear off the line to keep the sides level. The goal eventually came when a probing run from Mary Boland saw her shot be parried away by the keeper only for Shannon McGovern to bravely pounce and fire the ball to the net.
The second half began ideally when Sarah Merrigan fired a shot to the corner of the net after just two minutes and this was quickly followed by Kelli Maguire capitalising on a keeper error to score while Shannon and Sarah rounded off the scoring for a 5-0 win.
This win secures the league title for the women with two games to spare, scoring 32 goals and conceding just 2, with the presentation of the cup being made after their match at home to Ajax next Sunday
