B team disappointed with result but happy with overall performance

The men's second team made the short trip to Ballycarney on Friday evening to take on Castledockrell United and despite going down 5-1, they were happy overall with the performance and manager John Brownrigg was in a position to try out several players in different positions.
He will be disappointed that three of the goals came from basic errors but a lot of that can be put down to first game back and playing a side who are a couple of divisions above them.
A nervous start saw the home team score twice but Tombrack settled down after that and finished the first half much stronger and were playing the better football for long periods. James Kehoe did pull one back when his shot was deflected to the net but with changes being made, our lads lost their shape and conceded three more in the closing stages of the game. We also missed a penalty at a crucial time so despite the 5-1 defeat, the team did manage to create several opportunities and the result did flatter the home team.
This match saw Mark Melay, Michael Smyth, William Harte and Daryl Kearns make their senior debut for the club while John Ryan returned from Bunclody and David "Buggy" Kennedy has also returned to playing so this team are heading into Division Four A with more than a decent chance of at least promotion
