Youths put in good display in Nurney

Last night saw the Youths team travel to Nurney Villa for a pre season friendly and manager Willie Maher was content with the performance despite losing by the odd goal in five.

A strong physical home side go off to a good start and led 2-0 before our lads found their feet and began to press forward and were rewarded when Kevin Kenny pulled one back. Tombrack continued to press forward in search of an equaliser and got back on level terms when Glenn Jacob scored to make it 2-2.

The game looked to be heading for a draw until the home side scored a long range spectacular goal with three minutes remaining to snatch victory

Despite the defeat, Maher was happy with the overall team performance, especially the performances of 15 year olds Alan Carton and Josh McMullan who were both making their debuts at this level.

The team now look forward to next Saturday when they kick off their league campaign in Division Four where they will compete with Ajax Athletic, Wexford Celtic 2nds, Wexford Albion 3rds, St Josephs and Camolin Celtic
