Results and News Weekend Sept 13th 2016

Under Eleven Boys
Saturday Sept 10th v Fethard Rangers (A)
Our Under Eleven boys made the long journey to Fethard with a very under strength team and put up a brave battle before going down 4-3. It was only the fact that Tombrack were slightly outnumbered that prevented them from picking up points in this match and the future looks bright for this group of players. Tombrack goals cae from Stephen O Toole (2) and one from Oran McGovern.

Under Thirteen Boys
Saturday Sept 10th v Forth Celtic B (A)
A poor first half performance saw our Under Thirteen's trail badly in this opening match of the season and although they played much better in the second half, they were unable to get back into the game. The home side started well as Tombrack never really got going and Celtic led 7-1 at the break but the lads showed great spirit in the second half and scored 4 times before eventually losing 10-5. Tombrack goals came from Colm Fortune (3) and Robert McCrea (2)

Women
Sunday Sept 11th v St Cormacs (H)
Tombrack women opened their season with a strong second half person to overcome local rivals St Cormacs 5-0 in a very windy Ballyboy this morning. Playing against a strong breeze in the first half, the women held the visitors at bay and were unlucky not to go ahead themselves when Tia Byrne was unable to connect with a Sarah Merrigan corner. Tombrack took control early in the second half when player of the match Kelli Maguire scored after creating space on the edge of the area and this was closely followed by a goal from Sharon Walsh to make it 2-0. Sarah Merrigan made it 3-0 when her shot rocketed in off the post before Sharon added her second and Mary Boland wrapped up the scoring when she converted a Shannon McGovern, who was making her debut, cross to the back of the net.

This win gives Tombrack an opening win the divisional shield and gives them a strong chance of qualifying out of the group
Squad: Ashling Kavanagh, Mary Boland, Lauren Byrne, Tia Byrne (Shannon MCGovern), Eimear Whelan, Tammy Hennessy, Sharon Walsh, Kelli Maguire, Mary Martin, Saoirse Harris (Chloe Hayden Doyle), Sarah Merrigan

Men's B Team
Sunday September 11th v Cloughbawn AFC "B"(H)
Despite getting an ideal start in this Division Four A match, our B team eventually went down 3-2 to a hard working and dogged Cloughbawn side. Tombrack started the game well and went ahead on ten minutes when Willie Power converted a penalty which had been awarded when a Cloughbawn defender handled the ball in the area. The home home side looked comfortable at this stage but allowed the Clonroche men back into the game and they scored three to take control of the game which was being played in very windy conditions in Ballyboy. The lads did push hard to get back into the game in the second half and were rewarded with a goal from Jamie Murphy but Cloughbawn managed to hang on for the three points
