FAI Junior Cup First Round
Seaview Wanderers 3 Tombrack United 5
The men's first team made it through to the next round of the FAI Junior Cup after a strong first half display saw them eventually progress 5-3. Tombrack got the ideal start when they were awarded a penalty for a handball which Bob calmly dispatched to the net and they doubled their advanatage when Mick "Savo" Kelly sent a low shot past the keeper ten minutes later. The lads were well in control at this stage but Seaview did try to get back into the game and keeper Jason Maguire was called on to save a free kick twenty minutes in.
Eoin Carton scored his second on the half hour mark when he headed home a Kevin Kenny corner and shortly before half time James Coleman rounded the keeper to put the lads 4-0 ahead.
Seaview came out for the second half with more determination and pulled one back after seven minutes but ten minutes later Richie O Hara restored Tombrack's four goal advantage with a well taken goal
The home side did score twice more before the end, one a penalty, but the lads remained in control and have now booked their place in the next round.
In the first half, the whole team put in an excellent performance and played some smooth passing football on what was an excellent all weather surface in Lamberton while in the second half, Jason in the goal made two top class saves at vital points of the game while Kevin Kenny showed great maturity in midfield with Tom Hayden also working hard
