B team win but no luck for Women's team

Sunday October 2nd

Women's Shield Group A
Tombrack United  2  Camolin Celtic  4
Sharpness in front of goal was the difference between these two sides as Camolin came out on top after a tough battle. The visitors got the ideal start when they got down the left wing and crossed to score after just three minutes but Tombrack took control of the game for a long period then and could have been level as Mary Martin, Kelli Maguire and Sarah Merrigan all went close. The pressure continued in the second half but could not find a way through and Camolin proved deadly on the break and scored twice to lead 3-0. At this stage Tombrack came more into the game and goals from Sarah and Kelli had them within touching distance of Camolin but a late goal killed off their aspirations. With both teams short, all Tombrack players can be happy with their performance with Katie O Toole making her debut in goal and Leanne Kenny also making her first senior appearance up front

Squad: Katie O Toole, Marie Allen, Lauren Byrne, Ashling Kavanagh, Tia Byrne, Sarah Merrigan, Sharon Walsh, Kelli Maguire, Chloe Hayden Doyle, Mary Martin, Leanne Kenny

Men's Division Four A
Tombrack United  3  Taghmon United  1
Our men's second team have been competitive in most games this season but got no luck but all that changed today when a strong overall team performance saw them overcome Taghmon 3-1 in Ballyboy. Tombrack started well but found themselves a goal down after ten minutes when the defence failed to clear a ball and it ended up in the net. However, they knuckled down and battled their way back into the game and levelled through Jamie Murphy and further goals from Jamie Walsh and John Ryan gave them victory and their first three points of the season
