Mixed results for men's teams in final pre-season games

Both men's teams were in action today as the manager's put the final touches to their teams before the season kicks off next Sunday.

The first team were at home to Moyne Rangers second team and were happy enough to record a 3-2 win in a game where the lead constantly changed hands. Our lads enjoyed the majority of the possession but a mistake early in the game saw Moyne being awarded a free kick which they duly put to the back of the net. Tombrack continued to press forward and midway through the half, they won a free kick and player manager Joe Newe fired the ball to the back of the net.

Kevin Kenny was impressing on his first team debut and was causing the Moyne defence some problems as was the experienced Savo and some good work by both players saw a Savo shot deflected to the net by a Moyne defender.

Moyne came in search of an eqialiser and once again a sloppy pass by the Tombrack defence allowed Moyne in to score and tie the game up a 2-2. However, Tombrack were to have the final say when Jamie Walsh broke through to lob the keeper with fifteen minutes to go and wrap up a 3-2 victory.

Meanwhile, the second team traveled to Castlebridge to take on Bridge Rovers second team and found the home side in clinical scoring form and had the Tombrack defence under pressure from the start. Two first half goals saw the home side lead at half time and a three goal burst early in the second half saw them put the result beyond any doubt.

Eoghan Murphy did manage to pull one back when he rounded the keeper but it was just a consolation as Bridge rounded off their 6-1 with a late goal.

Manager John Brownrigg acknowledged "it was not an ideal result with the season kicking off next week but Bridge Rovers are a good side and will do well Division Three A" and added "our lads did show well at times and some positives can be taken from the game"

Next weekend will see the season kick off with both men's teams in action on Sunday while Saturday will see the Youths, Under Ten, Twelve and Fourteen schoolboys likely to be in action and fixtures will be posted here once confirmed
